80 years ago, in 1936, Francesco Vitaloni opened the “Rosticceria San Carlo” named after the nearby church in Milan of San Carlo al Lazzaretto. The shop soon distinguished itself with a revolutionary specialty, the "crispy chips" which were distributed daily to the bakeries and bars in the surrounding area.
Production soon grew in considerable quantities and the company takes the name of San Carlo... crisps becoming the undisputed leader in Italy producing chips of various types and various flavours.
